HISTORY OF SHIELD
In the section Sigillography National Historical Archive in Madrid and in its Municipal Heraldry (Imprints) are the first records concerning the use of arms Coat of Arms centenary by the City of Benahavis, imprints submitted under the Royal Order approved Ministry of the Interior of August 30, 1876.

It was in 1572 when it achieves its desired Benahavís upon being granted independence by H.M. King Philip II the Town Charter, which constituted as an autonomous and independent of Marbella.

Benahavis also endowed Shield and was delivered to Don Carlos de Villegas (Mr jurisdictional Benahavis) by Mr. Fonseca, who was commissioned by H.M. King to make the distribution of land and houses typical of the Moorish rebels during the uprising that began in Istan night December 31, 1568 and spread to Benahavis and other people of the Serrania de Ronda.

Among the elements that make up the coat, we can find a castle which corresponds to Montemayor. This castle was built before the existence of Benahavis, on the tenth century, and was in antiquity an enormous strategic importance, have been released by major battles for possession at the time of the Taifa Kingdoms.

Montemayor said castle was defended by five towers are built in the area of Shield. The names of the towers, whose ruins still remain are:

Tramores Tower.Benahavis Armory
Leonera Tower.
Chimes Tower.
Sterile Torre.
Daidín Tower.

With the above background, it seems that just placing the heraldic elements that make up the Coat of Arms Municipal and therefore the proper management of the Arms of the village of Benahavis is as follows:

WEAPONS
Azure (blue), on rocks of silver, a house of gold, and Mazon embattled Sable (black) and clarified in gules (red), surrounded by five towers, gold, and Mazon embattled Sable (black), and clarified Gules (red). Royal crown ring, a ring set with precious stones, composed of eight rosettes (five views) of acanthus leaves, interpolated Pearl whose leaves out so many diadems of pearls together in a converging world of azure ( blue), with semi-meridian and Ecuador, gold, surmounted by a Cross and Crown lined gules (red).
