The Sports Department of the Town Hall of Benahavis would like to congratulate the students of the Municipal School of Golf for the good results obtained in the last tournament in Andalusia, held last weekend at Magna Marbella.

Luis Lopez Feito Calvente and Julia Ramirez have proved, once more, their good skills on the course. Feito obtained the best result of the day with 34 shots, while Julia was third in a category in which she was premiering and competing with older rivals, as stated by their coach, Manuel Araujo.

In the Kids-circuit Tournament of Andalusia, Maria Rodriguez Lebron also stood out, Maria is from Ronda but federated in Benahavis, and was ranked second. Other players in the team that represented Benahavís were Lourdes and Jose García Chacón who both had good games but failed to win an award on this occasion.

The Councillor of Sports, Alonso Mena, expressed his satisfaction with the results obtained by the youngest of the municipality in the Kids-circuit of Andalusia, as the game of golf, is one of the priorities for the Town Hall of Benahavis. “This Delegation”, he mentioned, “has very clear priorities with this regard, and will continue promoting both the knowledge and the practice of this sport among the children, whilst organizing events of national and international nature to keep Benahavís at the forefront of quality golf destinations.”

She achieved this distinction nothing less than seven times in all her career. Outside Europe, Laura Davies has also won very important victories in the American circuit and in Japan, with special mention of the U.S. Women’s Open in 1987, a victory that chained to another ‘Great’, the British Women’s Open 1986. Such a demonstration of good play has brought her throughout her career more than 3.5 million euros in the Ladies European Tour and more than 8.5 million dollars in the American circuit. The also tenfold Solheim Cup player Laura Davies won the 1986 Open de España Femenino in La Manga and repeated experience in last year’s edition held in Flamingos Golf. The 2nd is a daunting par 3 of 182m from the white tees over water (see below). The 6th another new par 3 of 133m built into the mountainside and offering spectacular views across the Mediterranean.
